Section 17 of the Nursing Home Administrators Licensing and Disciplinary Act addresses nurses’ conduct in a professional setting. The Department of Financial and Professional Regulation “may suspend or revoke a license, refuse to issue or renew a license or take other disciplinary action” if a nurse is found to have engaged in acts or practices that are considered “unethical, unauthorized, or unprofessional.” Examples of such conduct include, but are not limited to: engaging in any form of discrimination or sexual harassment, failing to appropriately protect a client’s privacy, and making fraudulent claims for services.
